Mortuary Assistant
What starts out as a slightly creepy funeral sim gets darker as more and more things happen during your shift.
Mortuary Assistant is one of the most well-known horror games right now. This game is great for horror fans because of how tense it is and how scary the jump scares are. Aside from the scary things you’ll do with demons and ghosts, this game also has a good story. If you just beat Fears to Fathom, this is a great next horror game to add to your collection.
The Stanley Parable
In The Stanley Parable, another scary story-based game, you are at work in a strange office building. From here, you can either do your job or go against what the storyteller has told you to do.
This game is less scary and more spooky, in part because the art style is dull but full of color. Its story is just as good as Fears to Fathom, and it uses the video game medium to mess with your assumptions. This should be right up your alley if you want a good, mind-bending, and creepy first-person journey.
Outlast
Outlast is a first-person horror game that is almost a common name. You play as a reporter who is looking into strange and scary things happening at a psychiatric hospital.
Like any good horror game, things don’t go well for him, and he soon finds himself in way over his head. In Outlast, there is no fighting. The only way to get away from the monsters you meet is to run and hide. This makes for some very scary times that you can’t help but think about long after you’ve played.
Phasmophobia
If scary games make you feel too uneasy to play by yourself, Phasmophobia might be the perfect next game for you. You and up to three other people will be sent to one of several places to look into ghostly happenings.
In this part horror, part investigation game, you have to talk to each other, use your tools, and try to get out alive. You will both scream and laugh at your friends. Perfect if you’ve ever wanted to try to act like the people on Ghost Adventures.
Five Nights At Freddy’s
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a game that put the first-person survival horror genre on the map. It has become a cult favorite.
You might think that a night job as a security guard at a pizza place for kids would be pretty quiet. Until you start to really wonder why there needs to be a security guard there and why the animatronics keep moving. A series you won’t forget has an interesting story, simple game features, and some pretty creepy toys that come to life.
Inside The Backrooms
Inside the Backrooms is a game based on the classic creepypasta. You and other players explore a series of empty rooms and halls that seem to go on forever. You just have to leave. That is, until the creatures who live in the back rooms come to get you.
This indie game isn’t very long, but it has a good range of missions, jobs, and monsters. Enough that you and your friends won’t get tired of it or less scared of it any time soon. Just bring your flashlight with you.
The Forest
If you lived through a plane crash, you might think you’re lucky to be living. But that might not last for long in The Forest.
This game is a good mix of survival horror and crafting games, with good game features and an interesting story to boot. People liked it enough to want a follow-up, which is a good sign in a field where so many games are one-offs. Fight horrifying mutants, build a base, find tools, and try to figure out what’s going on in the mysterious titular forest.
Chasing Static
Chasing Static is a throwback to the indie horror games of the turn of the century. It takes the common tropes of story horror games and gives them a new twist. The game uses old graphics and current sound design to make an old-fashioned and creepy experience.
The game’s easy rules and interesting design choices make it a good one that shouldn’t be missed. Many people haven’t heard of this game, but it has a creepy old town and hidden riddles.
Hello Neighbor
In Hello Neighbor, you play as a boy who is interested in his strange friend. You have to be careful not to get caught by him as you sneak into his house to find out what dark secrets he has been hiding.
This series has a simple but colorful art style, and its stealth-based gameplay makes it stand out from other games. This is a good place to start if you want a less stressful horror game that is still in the horror genre.
House Of Caravan
No, not like the card game from New Vegas called “caravan.” House of Caravan, on the other hand, is a spooky mansion-crawl game with a good mix of puzzles and scary mysteries. This is a great book for people who like horror stories set in the early 1900s. It reminds me of those kinds of stories.
As you look around the house, each puzzle you solve will tell you more about the horrible history of the place and make you want to leave even more. If you liked the story in Fears To Fathom, you should check out this game, which is a great mix of a story and a horror game.
